As the numbers mount,
the more horrified I become.
What injustice to the world, to the thousands of people who died needlessly!
Any earthquake of that magnitude would have been detected across the world, and any school textbook will tell you that deadly tsunamis will result. You don't need an early warning system to know that.. it's just a criminal excuse. Why did no warning go out?

I'm flabbergasted at what these articles suggest - agencies knowing one hour before that a tsunami will strike but "we don't have contacts in our address book for anybody in that part of the world"?

!!
!!!wtf!
Screw you. There is truly injustice in the world this Christmas.

and u noe wat's worse? that so many ppl died, and it didn't even cause a ripple in the business world. The void between the rich n poor of the world is so far apart, we can't see our toes anymore.
The SG govt wants to send as much aid as possible; they send a total of S$500,000.. for so many countries who are in dire need of help.. and our charity shows alone raise more money.
Well, as I watch more of the news and see the scale of the tsunamis, I'm a little more sympathethic that no one was able to predict the scale of it.. really does seem like a natural act of God that no one could do much to help.. but of course, saving even a few lives is still worth it.
It is indeed true that the regions hardest hit are connected very little to our world economy and are very poor indeed. But let us not dispair but realise that there is so much to do and correct in this world.
And of course, our $500,000 initial offer was probably one of the "stingiest" around! But this is somewhat offset by the incredible upwelling of public support. I was at SPH just now and I couldn't even get in to give an old blanket because there were just too many cars and people.
Wishing all a peaceful-er new year...
