Last week, there was a letter by someone asking the law to allow abortions after 24 weeks because it is arbitrary and some deformities or handicaps are discovered only after then. Parents and society should not be forced to shoulder the responsibility, nor should the child be allowed to suffer he argued.
It was heartwarming to read the flurry of letters disagreeing with the him, from parents of handicapped children, and not least handicapped people themselves.
But in a dinner conversation last night, Fr John-Paul suggested that it was probably an editorial decision to print those letters, since the government is trying to raise birth rates, and leave out those who support abortion after 24 weeks. Made me ponder whether this is really true. What do you think? Are you a conspiracy theorist as well?
