If you're not aquainted with the story, here it is:
Two years ago on National day, I and Loretta decided to drive to the national stadium and catch the fireworks. I decided the bring the dogs, Anne and Jack along so that we could go to the park or something. We were along Geyland Road when the fireworks suddenly began. The streets, which were packed with cars in every lane, ground to a halt as everyone craned to watch. The explosions were loud and Jack was badly frightened. I couldn't calm him much so I placed him in the back of the car, jumped out of the car, and closed the door behind me. Loretta failed to do the same.
Jack squeezed through the raised handrest, jumped out of the slightly open passenger door, and in the blink of an eye was running down the lane completely filled with cars and people. Just at that moment, the fireworks ceased and everyone jumped back into their cars and drove off. It was the worse situation possible. I could not see in which direction or how far he ran, and my car was still left in the middle of the main road without a driver. I quickly ran back to park the car but by the time we returned to the lane, every vehicle and person that was in the completely packed lane had gone.
There was only one witness later on that said they saw a dog running up the road. We did everything we could - informed the police, the SPCA, the pet shops in the area and put up posters, but to no avail. We can only assume that he was picked up by someone somewhere. We hope that it was a kind family that took him in...
So yes, everyone was rather upset, and my brother decided he wanted a new jack russell, which we got, and which he named... Jack.
To Jack 1, Happy National Day!
