Look into those eyes of my grandmother and grandfather, staring out from the past I never knew. On their wedding day, did they know how their lives would turn out? How did they meet? Did they love each other? What was their childhood like?
In my granny's old age, what do you think she has to share about her life past? I lament the fact that I've never had the opportunity to learn about life from my grandparents, and in fact my very own parents. They never shared anything much. Perhaps they were always suffering and unhappy. They've only wanted our lives to be better, to be different from theirs. "Nothing good to share there", maybe they're thinking.
Who can imagine what our lives have in store for our own selves? It's unimaginable. Scary. Hatefully so. All I can do is stare into the future, in fear and trembling.
