The past week has been tough. Full of challenges, feelings of failure and inadeqaucy, and discovery.
First, I have been doing a part-time job with this company called Synergy Consultancy and Coaching. It runs workshops, such as how to study effectively etc., for secondary school students. Toughest was taking two classes on my own of sec 4 students on memory skills and motivational techniques. Shucks, I really have no experience in this things and it was terrible trying to gain the student's attention and respect. I suppose I did better the second time round but I'm too staid and boring for these things. It really takes quite a lot out of me to hyper and exciting. It hurts when I feel I haven't done a good job, but I think the experience was eye-opening, and really forced me to grow.. which is good.
Last week, I met up with two teachers from NJC which agreed to hire me to develop their cirruculum for the Integrated Programme in their college. For those who are unfamiliar, the Integrated programme, commonly known as the through-train programme, is a revised A-level syllabus that skips the O-levels. It's for the more capable students and has a large grounding on philosopy. Think of it as a very advanced GP. I am very grateful to have received this opportunity, and I do hope I can live up to their expectations.
