Afternoon thoughts

Emptiness
An ache
Reaching...
...for something
but what ?
of a life with
no beginning
and no desitnation
to go
where ?

Dreams of a religion
all I had;
washed away
in the waters of Boxing Day,
dashed upon the failures of men

To choose one's own destiny,
in this my society,
a blessing
or an ultimate curse?

To choose the path less travelled -
Ha!
Choose your own path,
Fool!

To blog or not to blog,
that is the question

Stories and songs,
tapestries of beliefs,
torn asunder;
leaving me grasping
at threads

Into a chasm I fall
When will I land ?
When will it end ?
Hard
or soft
Will I still be able to stand?

Searching the threads,
I try to string,
to weave,
a strand
strong enough
to bear one's weight,
but there is no success.

Poised I wait
for a sign
a song
a shift
a shove ?
a slap !
a slip ?
I wait
while I walk
alone on this path

To make the world
a better place -
A mantra, learnt
too simply
in days
of idealistic youth.

"Reject
all that is worldly",
so scripture says,
till nothing is left.

Two travelers meet
and share their trouble;
but will journey smooth,
or burdens double?

I think,
I may go mad,
if I think any more.

A lonely man, rejected,
went to a mountaintop
to find other lonely men,
there, dejected.

Off to meet my maker!
But who made me?
I asked

Wisdom -
what is that !
To know one's place -
that is true wisdom.

Why did the man cross the road ?
He was killed by a truck -
who knows?

40 days in the desert,
suffered.

A wise man went to the simpleton,
crying.
"Tell me, the secret, to happiness"
"Simple", came the reply,
and that is "Belonging".

I see now, that I belong,
to a society
I reject,
a job
I reject
a family,
I reject
a me
that I reject!

The birds have their nests
and the foxes their holes,
but the son of man has nowhere
to lay his head

To plumb the depths of despair,
and run out of line.
Oh, the irony!

A boy tried to run away
from home,
but home caught up with him
in the end

The sins of the fathers shall be visited
upon his sons.

He wrote his sins, upon a kite
and released it into the wind.
But the kite
would not fly
unless he held on to the string.

I look to the East
and see a new tomorrow
I look to the West
and see my ever present sorrow
