When I joined NJC, I decided to voluntarily get involved in the CCA and of course I decided to help out in their astronomy club!
Its been great over the past few months getting to know the students and teaching them stuff. The greatest satisfaction came just yesterday...
The astrochallenge is a very competitive challenge. Our school came in 2nd last year, and there are many strong teams around. There were I think about 20 teams with about half competing in the tertiary category. There were teams from the polys as well. We were facing the likes of VJ, RJ, HC.. I didn't expect much from my teams as we started preparation really late.. like 1 1/2 weeks before the competition? But what happened was that for the week prior, they spent whole days in school from morning to night preparing, studying, setting each other questions.. graduated seniors came back to help.. they really put in a lot of effort.
So when the two teams we sent emerged 1st and 4th, I was so happy and proud of them!
The team
